Zambian Ground Handlers is the only independent ground handling company based in Zambia, dedicated solely to the country. Acting as the vital link between the global travel trade and Zambia’s exceptional safari operators, they support agents with tailored itineraries, logistical planning, and expert, countrywide advice. Their service is built on reliability, deep local knowledge, and careful attention to detail. From flight bookings and road transfers to suggested routes and itemised costings, every stage of the guest journey is thoughtfully managed.
Their trade website offers live availability, special offers, and up to date lodge information, making it easier than ever to plan and sell Zambia with confidence. Backed by an experienced and highly knowledgeable team, they make working in Zambia seamless and refreshingly straightforward.
Nick Aslin first came to Zambia in 1992 to work with the pioneering conservationist Norman Carr. He knew little about Africa or the safari world at the time, but that changed quickly. Under Norman’s guidance, Nick developed a deep connection to Zambia’s wilderness and people, and a few years later he was asked to take over the running of Norman Carr Safaris, the country’s oldest and most established safari company.
After many years in the bush, Nick and his wife moved to Lusaka, and by 2009 he was ready for a new challenge. Having worked across every corner of Zambian tourism, he recognised a clear gap: the need for an independent ground handler focused entirely on Zambia. Existing operators often prioritised their own camps, but Nick saw the value in offering objective, expert support for those exploring the country.
Driven by a genuine love for Zambia and a belief in its potential, he set out to build a service shaped by experience, integrity, and commitment to the industry.
Zambia is one of Africa’s best kept safari secrets, wild, soulful, and wonderfully varied. With vast national parks, exceptional wildlife, skilled guiding, and warm hospitality, it is a destination that deserves far more attention.
In South Luangwa, the birthplace of walking safaris, you can track wildlife on foot or explore quiet, game rich valleys by vehicle. Along the Lower Zambezi, safari follows the rhythm of the river, with canoeing, tiger fishing, and gentle sundowner cruises framed by the Zimbabwe escarpment.
Kafue offers open plains, woodland, and excellent predator sightings, while Liuwa Plain delivers something rarer still, remote wilderness, a wildebeest migration, and remarkable birdlife not to mention Livingstone adventure capital.
With deep on the ground knowledge, Zambian Ground Handlers craft journeys that reveal the heart of Zambia and leave guests wanting to return.
Working with Zambian Ground Handlers feels natural to us because the relationship goes back a long way. I first met Nick in 2004 during my early years in Zambia, when he was with Norman Carr Safaris and I was with Tongabezi. He was always generous with guidance, and I learned a great deal from him. When he founded Zambian Ground Handlers, recommending him was effortless.
Nick knows Zambia inside out and understands how to connect people to the country in a meaningful way. Over the years, I have seen the ZGH team grow into a trusted, capable, and genuinely dependable partner. Your guests are always in very good hands.
As a destination management company, Zambian Ground Handlers does not own or operate any lodges or camps. Instead, they work with a carefully selected range of properties across the country, offering independent advice based on what suits each traveller best. This flexibility allows them to tailor itineraries to different styles, budgets, and preferences.
From small bush camps in remote corners of South Luangwa to elegant, tented suites along the Lower Zambezi, the accommodation options they work with are as varied as Zambia itself. They partner with classic walking safari outfits, family friendly lodges, and some of the country’s most stylish camps with views, pools, and excellent food.
With long standing relationships and up to date insights, ZGH ensures every journey is well matched, seamless, and thoughtfully put together.
Zambian Ground Handlers is deeply committed to conservation and community across Zambia. As long standing corporate members of Conservation South Luangwa and Conservation Lower Zambezi, they actively support frontline protection, and founder Nick Aslin serves as a trustee of CSL. ZGH has also taken leadership roles within Wildlife Crime Prevention and currently chairs Alinea, a regional donor platform supporting conservation efforts across Southern Africa. They contribute to the Musekese Foundation and take part in the annual Elephant Charge, which funds grassroots conservation projects nationwide.
Local engagement is central to their ethos. Based in Lusaka, the team is ninety percent Zambian, with long serving staff who have been with the company since the early days. By working with local suppliers and partnering only with lodges that share their conservation and community values, ZGH ensures tourism contributes positively to Zambia’s landscapes and people.
